Penguins

Penguins are FLIGHTLESS birds that have traded wings for FLIPPERS, making them extraordinary swimmers rather than fliers. There are 18 recognized SPECIES of penguins in the world, and every single one of them lives in the Southern Hemisphere — though not all of them live in icy Antarctica. These fascinating birds have evolved over millions of years into one of nature's most perfectly ADAPTED ocean hunters, capable of diving deeper and swimming faster than almost any other bird on the planet. Their TUXEDO-like black and white coloring is actually a form of camouflage called countershading — dark on top to blend with the ocean depths and white on the bottom to blend with the bright surface above. Penguins rely almost entirely on the sea for their DIET, feasting on fish, squid, and krill depending on the species and the region where they live.
